The South Korean Armed Forces hold an exercise, on August 25, 2019, to defend the islets of Dokdo, the easternmost in the country. The Japanese Government has moved a formal protest to South Korea over the military exercises: "These exercises are unacceptable. It is unfortunate and we strongly ask for the cancellation of the maneuvers," says a note released by the Japanese Government through the Kyodo agency. On Thursday, South Korea had announced the suppression of the intelligence exchange pact with Japan.
