In the images the remains of about 250 children and 40 warriors slaughtered between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries in the district of Huanchaco, province of Trujillo, discovered by a team of Peruvian archaeologists. Bone studies also determined that Chimus children slaughtered in this culture would be between 4 and 12 years old. Director of the excavation project, Feren Castillo, explained to the Peruvian news agency that these people would have been sacrificed in a ritual for the divinities of the Chimú Culture in order to placate the wrath of nature. Preliminary investigations realized that the remains would have been sacrificed due to the traces found in their bodies, they present cuts on the sides of the thorax. The Chimú culture flourished between the 1000 and 1200 centuries of our era on the north coast of the Peruvian territory and among its practices the sacrifices to their local divinities stand out in sacred rituals.
